*CANCELLED DUE TO PC BREAKING DOWN AND LOSING THE EDITABLE FILE*
DragonBall Z: Shattering Planet is my next Game Maker Project, one I started while...being stuck...on The Cell Games' development. Still in development (and currently on hold...it's not that things aren't going too well like my other unfinished DBZ game, it's just I have to go back to school, so I don't have time to keep working on it right now), progress is pretty far along. I've coded all the playable characters, the attacks, and one enemy (which I simply have to duplicate and edit to make the other enemies). I've also already picked out the music and have most of the graphics ready. Anyway, in this game, you take control of various characters on Planet Namek. You're against Freeza in all his forms, and you're task is to prevent him from blowing the planet up. It sounds sorta like Missle Command, but it's still quite a bit different. At the moment, I'm not sure how many modes there will be. There will at least be the main story mode, but I was thinkin of adding extras like an arcade and/or survival mode where you can play longer, since the story isn't that many levels long. I was also thinking of adding an extra story mode you unlock after beating the main story mode. Features include:
- 5 playable characters (6 if there's that extra story mode), each with their own stats. Stats aren't actually displayed, but for example, weaker characters in relation to the anime WILL take more damage, and slower characters WILL move slower
- "Techniques". Three types, a piercing attack, a widespread attack, and an ability, all character specific. This will be explained in much greater detail in the actual game's help file (or has been, since I already wrote most of the help file)
- Free movement (probably the biggest thing making this game different from Missle Command)
- Notably edited graphics. Meaning, while MOST of the graphics still aren't 100% custom, I DID heavily edit ONE base sprite into well over SIXTY sprites of the 5 playable characters, so you probably won't be able to tell very easily, if at all, they were once rips. Although, admittedly, the first three Freeza forms are mostly just recolours to make the sprite more vibrant.
Why am I making THIS game? Pretty much the same reason as the other DBZ game, The Cell Games. I happen to like DragonBall, obviously. Many people are often disappointed by commercial DBZ games (though I don't have a problem with most of them...the fighting ones anyway), so I just wanted to see if I could make a GOOD one that even non-DBZ fans could tolerate...maybe even like. Except this time around, it isn't a fighting game, but it still stays true to the series.
